ACB Series

Active Chilled Beams

Active chilled beams use dehumidified air from the building’s ventilation system (primary air) to pressurize a plenum inside the beam.  The primary air then flows through nozzles at high speeds.  These high-speed airstreams entrain room air (secondary air) through coils to become cooled or heated.

Engineered Air’s active chilled beams are available in various types of installations:  recessed at the ceiling level, installed next to partitions or walls, set up for T‑Bar or drywall installation.  The compact design of the ACB with a height of slightly less than 6” (152 mm) allows for reduced ceiling plenum heights.

Features

  • Induction ratios as high as 5:1
  • Improved air buoyancy (mixed air streams delivered to the space are warmer than the primary air temperature)
  • High degree of control (secondary cooling is controlled separately from the primary air to provide greater flexibility and low system inertia)
  • Reduced building infrastructure size (smaller air handler and primary air duct sizes offer space savings compared with conventional all-air system infrastructure)
  • No maintenance (no moving or serviceable parts)
  • Energy savings through fan power reduction (by processing a lower quantity of primary air, higher sensible capacities can be achieved when compared with conventional all-air diffuser systems)

Induction Series

Hydronic Cooling/Heating Induction Air Terminals

Engineered Air induction units are available for two or four pipe systems with the capacity control on the water side.  Four different arrangements and varying lengths from 24 ¾” (629 mm) to 53 ¼” (1353 mm) are available to fit virtually any application.  The specially constructed primary air chamber with insulated guide plate and efficient nozzle configuration provides low primary air pressure and extremely low noise levels.

Features

  • Four models
  • Low profile
  • Cooling and heating capacity selection
  • Multiple lengths
